The Moment Everything Clicked.

I am one of the millions of humans in this world who knew what Bitcoin was back in the early 2010s and had the opportunity to buy some while researching the Silk Road. I never did buy any and then it was $300 dollars and I thought to myself there’s no way that this will ever be worth more than that. A few years later I saw it cracked a thousand dollars and again I thought that it wouldn’t be worth anything more. And the cycle repeated

Fast forward a few years to late 2020. The COVID Pandemic had basically flipped my life upside down. I live alone and got a lot of my social interaction at work. Well 9 months of working from home and being pretty isolated really started to wear on my mind and I slipped into a pretty deep depression. I couldn’t seem to get excited about anything and there was nothing to look forwards to. I somehow ended up on the /r/cryptocurrency subreddit and started getting interested and excited about something.

There was a whole lot more coins than I remembered from back in the day. Like a LOT more. I started to immerse myself and learn as much as possible about how the blockchain works and wanted to find the next big thing. There is a sea of tokens and coins that are totally worthless and a lot of promises for future tech. There’s lots of tokens where the team behind it focuses more on marketing than the actual product and almost as many glorifed ponzi schemes.

Fast forward once more…. to a few months again. I was on /r/cryptomoonshots trying to find a pancakeswap token before a lot of people bought in to “moon”. There was a post about this project called Zenon and at first glance it appeared to be just another blockchain being built. There was a link to a medium article https://shazzamazzash.medium.com/zenon-network-an-apes-guide-to-the-galaxy-7aad7dacdfef which I clicked on. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. If you have not already read that I highly recommend to bookmark it and read it a few times.

This project is not only focused on building a new blockchain. They do granular research on an academic level that I hadn’t seen in other whitepapers. They pinpoint failures, security concerns and limitations of other blockchains and are building to solve for all of these.

Then I reluctantly joined the Telegram channel. (Side note. I do not really like telegram. Too much spam and “when moon” posts) What I found was nothing like I expected. I highly encourage anyone reading this to take a few minutes to do some research on this project and say hi on Telegram.

One important thing to know about this project is that hard dates do not matter. They release products when they are ready and do not build mountains of hype like we see in other projects. I am planning on building this medium around Zenon and one of my goals is to break down the white paper into easier to understand terms.
